Lucky in Love and Life - Denton County Photographer

"Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family." ~Anthony Brandt

DSC_0510

This is my favorite time of year... the holiday decorations and lights, the gift-giving, celebrating our Lord's birth... just the feeling of hope and thankfulness that surrounds us.  Especially when we are with family.

Recently I was thinking about how much I enjoy what I do.  And I have to say, my favorite is shooting children and families.  There is something about capturing this tiny moment in the history of a family and knowing that 30 years from now these same kids that I am making funny voices for will be showing these pictures to THEIR kids someday to make THEM smile.

DSC_0213

The fashions and hairstyles may change and cause them to cringe, but the feelings these pictures will evoke in a few decades will be the same as they are now... love, gratitude and peace.  Family does that.

The Edwards family is no different.  Samuel and Alex give off a warmth and a joy that are a huge reflection of their parent's love for them.  Seeing them act silly and loving in that brother/sister way is an honor as a photographer, because I know Mom and Dad will treasure these moments for many years.

I am always honored when a client calls me a second time for portraits... it means I am doing something right.  I am grateful when they refer me to friends.  And I am TOUCHED when they do both over and over again like Andee does.

Thanks Andee and Sam for letting me be a little silly and drag you all over the Southlake Town Center for our fun shoot.   Your children are precious and fun and such a wonderful reflection of you both.  Hope you enjoy your pictures!

A Mama and her Boys - Denton area photographer

DSC_0067

I believe God puts people into your life for a reason.  No really.  I do.  Some people teach you something and leave as quickly as they came and some are meant to bringing something to your life to be cherished and nurtured.

DSC_0249

Don't worry, I am not going all religious fanatic on you.  But I do believe that once in a while you meet someone and they just bring something special into your life and it's meant to be.  I feel that way about my new (but good) friend Karly.  (And the sweet men in her life).

DSC_0135

She is young and vibrant and beautiful (you can tell that from the pictures of course), but she is also an amazing mom to three GORGEOUS boys and love of a sweet guy Rocky.  I feel so blessed to have met her when she started babysitting my two little ones a few summers ago... and more blessed that a friendship grew out of it.

When she asked me to take pictures of her WILD crew... I couldn't WAIT!  I had the honor of taking Chance's newborn pictures a few months back and it's so fun to see him grow from behind the camera.

EVEN MORE fun to hang out with them ... as you can see from the happiness that glows from this family.

Thank you for letting me capture your crazy life surround by your men, Karly.  It was LOL fun and silly and a JOY.  Don't ever stop being a wonderful mom, friend, and woman.

Lucky T Family Holiday Session - DFW Area Photographer

What a WONDERFUL time we had at The Harbor in Rockwall last weekend. It was so fun being back in my old hometown area (I grew up in Mesquite).

DSC_0279

So much has changed and I loved seeing how the people I grew up with have taken the area and just blossomed it into something beautiful.

DSC_0312

One of my friends from high school, Alyssia, won a promotion on my Facebook Page (you need to "like" it if you are on facebook... you might win sometime too!)... anyways, I was so happy she did and forced me over into her neck of the DFW metroplex for this gorgeous session.

DSC_0338

And, oh mah goodness... the handsome men in her life! She is one lucky lady to be surrounded by such good looking boys :)

Alyssia, it was so great seeing you again. I hope you like your sneak peek. The rest of your gallery will be up in a few days. Enjoy the weekend and give the boys a "high five" from me.

Lucky H Family Holiday Session - Denton Area Photographer

Approximately a decade ago (give or take a few years), I was working at this quirkly office building in the Property Management offiice.  I did all the events and the newsletter (gosh, sounds like a bit like what I do now, ha)... anyways, one of the things we did was organize a weekly happy hour for all the working folks like me.

DSC_0204

That's how I met my ex-husband (but lets not go there) and it's also how I met Melissa.

DSC_0259

She was one of the nicest people in the building and I loved sitting and girl chatting with her on those Fridays. Back then we were single and lamented on the pitfalls of dating and being 20-something in the dawning age of cell phones and internet (both of which were more of a luxury back then, rather than a necessity as they are now).

DSC_0226

Fast forward several years and she is married to an AWESOME guy and has two beautiful children. It had been years since we saw each other, but it was like no time had went by... instead now we are talking about recipes, little league and lamenting raising a girl in the age of Iphones and Facebook.

DSC_0232

Thanks Melissa and family for letting me capture this moment in time for you. It's such a blessing to see your dreams coming true and still be counted among your friends.

DSC_0261

Enjoy your sneak peak, the rest of your gallery will be ready later this week.

Lucky Townsend Family Holiday Session - Denton Area Photographer

We couldn't of had more gorgeous weather last weekend for family holiday sessions.  And I took full advantage of it with my little mobile studio and bag of tricks to keep the kiddos smiling. :)

DSC_0745

The Townsend Family met me up in Denton at the beautiful TWU Chapel in the Woods and Garden. I met Marcie through a mutual friend and another client. She joined me a few months back for my first Photography 101 Workshop and learned how to get her DSLR camera out of manual to take better pictures of her kiddos.

DSC_0698

She was an excellent student and even better has become a good friend since then. (This happens to me a lot... clients that become friends. It's one of my favorite parts of the job).

DSC_0799

Marcie and her husband are so sweet together and have the cutest little ones. Marcie's stepdaughter joined us a well to help be my assistant and coral the kiddos while I got some alone time with the Mom & Dad.

I don't know what we would have done without her, especially since I forgot my reflector and had to use my jacket to shade some of the sun off of Dad's face that day. Us photographers improvise wherever we have to, right?

DSC_0727

It was a fun day... a little peek-a-boo with the boys, some sassy posing instructions for the girls and everyone was ready to "work it" for the camera.

DSC_0672

Thanks Townsend family for letting me capture your holiday pictures this year... your gallery will be up to look at in a couple of days. Hope you enjoyed this sneak peak of your session!
