2013 High School Senior by Denton Area Photographer

As we wrap up February, I know many of my clients are getting excited about the upcoming Spring.  Not just because of the warmer temps and sunshine and flowers, but especially those that are graduating from high school and college to move on to new exciting adventures.

Caitlin was one of my favorite high school seniors to shoot.  Vibrant red hair, beautiful smile and a cowgirl attitude... what's not to love?

We headed to one of my favorite locations for her senior session in the middle of one of our coldest days in December.  This girl is no sissy, she brought short sleeves, dresses and of course... her boots.  (Thank goodness she also brought mom and sister along to carry a blanket, jacket and help warm her up between shots).

If you are a 2013 High School Senior, it's NOT too late to get your session done.  Contact me soon, as slots fill up fast in the spring.  Are you a 2014 High School Senior?  I am accepting applications for my Senior Rep Program, contact me for more details.  (email miranda@luckystardesigns.net).

Thanks to Caitlin and her mom for such a fun senior session and thanks to little sis, Kenzie, for being my awesome lighting assistant that day as well.  Ya'll rocked!

Black and White Photo Challenge for I Heart Faces (Denton County Photographer)

Sibling Love

It's been a while since I did one of these, as life has been pretty busy the past few months.  However, when I Heart Faces announced that their next challenge would be a black and white one, I couldn't resist.  Black and White Photography was my first love that started back in High School.

Of course, that was in the film days and I'd shoot rolls and rolls of film before I got my lighting, subject and exposure just how I wanted it.  (One of these days I'll share some of my early work... as embarrassing as it is... just to show how a photographer continues to grow and learn along their path).

This particular photo was taken during a session with a brother and sister pair.  They wanted to surprise their mom with a nice portrait of the two of them.  It was such a fun shoot, as they were obviously close and goofy with one another.  As I was interacting with them and capturing candid moments from my lens, I couldn't help but think about my own son and daughter and fast forward 10 years.  I hope they have this same joy and closeness with one another.  (And in case they are reading this, I hope they surprise me with a photo shoot of just the two of them someday... especially since neither of them will hold still long enough for me to take their pictures now).

Enjoy this snapshot of Sibling Love... I hope you love it as much as I do.  Thank you Nicole for letting me spend a lovely couple of hours with you and your brother.

Handsome Senior and Future Pilot

What a great session I had with Drew a couple weeks ago. He's handsome, smart, articulate and charming --- all great traits to have as he heads off to the Air Force Academy in the fall. We enjoyed some time around Grapevine, at the railroad tracks and then in Historic Grapevine. I was happy to include his parents and sister in a few of the shots as well. My fiance and his dad had a good time getting to know each other before the session as they are both pilots. They were a lovely family to work with and I hope they let me do it again sometime. Congrats Drew and have a great summer!

Senior Session l

Last week was a fun week for me, because I got to shoot a couple last minute senior sessions --- and both were guys (any surprise that a guy is late to get his senior portraits done? didn't think so... ha!).

My first shoot was a gorgeous estate in Denton County with one handsome senior. I am guessing there are more than a few broken hearts in his path, and if not, there soon will be.

And it was a ton of fun to include his best furry friend in some of the shots as well. Who said photographing pets is hard? Easy peazy! (or atleast I am trying to make it LOOK easy here).

Stay tuned... another gorgeous senior is coming up... and his stunning sister and parents. Off to do more post production editing. Thanks for looking!

If you are a 2011 Senior, I am accepting applications for my 2011 Senior Rep program --- give me a call if you are interested. Have a blessed day everyone.

Charming Senior

My friend Dawn and her son Austin allowed me the honor to shoot some Senior pictures of him for my portfolio this weekend. What a natural model! He had the devilish grin down pat. And I barely had to pose him... he was very comfortable and relaxed. Such a fun shoot for me! And our lighting in Old Town McKinney could not have been any better.

Enjoy the sneak peak Dawn and Austin.
