Thankful Thursday - DFW & Denton Photographer and Invitation Designer

Today is Thursday.  Thankful Thursday.

Today is finally the last day of the school year for my munchkins (insert whoops of laughter and glee).  And the 30 day countdown until I do Photography and Design full-time (insert LOUDER whoops of laughter and glee).

We are thankful for:

• Nate's A Honor Roll certificate.
• Jenna's commendation on 3rd Grade TAKS Testing (given for a perfect Reading score and "commended" on Math).
• A beautiful dance recital by The Dance Space last weekend (Jenna was beautiful).
• Great clients and a thriving business.
• The start of a fun and full summer of birthday parties, baby showers and weddings (more gleeful whooping).

Speaking of birthday and other fun summer events... I've had so much fun designing invitations to several parties and events for this year.  One is a FAB surprise party (but since the party is in July, I can't share the beautiful design with you yet.  Soon I promise!  Shhhhh!).

Teacher Appreciation Week Free Printable - Denton County Photographer & Designer

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

It's teacher appreciation week and my kiddos are excited about the gifts we have put together for their teachers this year.  I purchased this Thermal Zipper Tote from Thirty-One gifts (with their last name embroidered on it) and attached a little custom card I made (see below).  We are filling the cooler with the teacher's favorite soft drinks and a snack.

To say thank you to all the teachers out there, I am letting you all download the gift card I made to use for your own teacher appreciation gift.  Just click on the link below until you have the original size (should be 5"x5" at 200 dpi).  Print it on cardstock, cut to 5x5" and then punch a hole in the top corner to attach to your gift with ribbon.

Today's contest is in honor of one of my best friends that I lost to a car accident 20 years ago today.  She was an amazing influence on my life and always supported my creativity and ambitions.  I miss her everyday.

More about why today is special:

Shelly Pickle was only 15 years old when she left us.  She was my best friend.  She had a contagious laugh... full of joy and wit.  Her smile could light up a room and she had no idea how beautiful she was to so many of us that called her "friend".  Because she always encouraged my creativity and was one of my biggest cheerleaders, I pursued writing, photography and art with a passion.  She helped me believe in my abilities and encouraged me in her quiet way.  (Even if she made fun of the "big" words I always used). 

With each milestone in my life, I mourned her loss again, wishing she had been there with me at prom, graduation, and on to college.  I have found myself wondering what her children would have looked like and what kind of mom she would have been.  I know she is in a happy place with Jesus by her side and the angels as her friends.

If I had to guess, she is probably keeping them all in stitches with her self-depreciating humor.  I still quote her on a bad hair day and say "My hair looks like CA-CA today."  God I miss that girl.  :)

I am just grateful for the years she was in my life and the influence she had on it.  I will never forget you PickleSue.  xoxo.
